Advancing Fibre Innovation with PFAS-Free BE Pulp HC

At Sabert we are committed to delivering high-performance fibre solutions with integrity and transparency.

While our existing BePulp range is certified for use across the EU (including grades treated with PFAS) and meets the applicable European standards, we recognise that regulatory and recycling landscapes are evolving quickly particularly in the UK. Under UK programmes such as the Recycle Assessment Method (RAM), fibre grades containing intentionally added PFAS are currently receiving a red score, making them non-recyclable for UK ecomodulation purposes.

PUL49032D300N_07_2_010

In anticipation of future legislation (such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) which will prohibit many PFAS in food-contact packaging in the EU from August 2026) we have already commenced our transition to a new “no intentionally added PFAS” BePulp HC range. This HC range has been assessed for recyclability in line with the latest Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) / 4 evergreen recommendations and is designed to be compatible with mainstream recycling & composting streams (where accepted).

From September 2025, all of our pulp products will begin their transition to having no intentionally added PFAS and will carry the HC designation. Existing legacy grades (those containing PFAS) remain available for now, but should be specified with care for UK applications where regulatory scoring and recycling infrastructure are impacted.

We are happy to provide full documentation, testing reports and guidance on grade selection to help you meet your circular-economy, recycling and composting targets.
